James McPhaul, Director
Jim McPhaul currently serves as the director of the Wisconsin SBDC at UW-Parkside. He also teaches Sales, Marketing and Entrepreneurial Principles at the university. McPhaul is a retired banker, serving in numerous roles in southeastern Wisconsin for over 30 years. His last position held was as Sr. Vice President of Bank of Kenosha, a division of Banks of Wisconsin. He holds an undergraduate degree and his MBA from UW-Parkside. McPhaul is a GrowthWheel certified advisor and also a certified PROBE advisor for small businesses.
Robert Martin, Consultant
Bob Martin recently retired after 24 years as Environmental Manager for SC Johnson & Sons. Prior to working for SCJ, Bob worked 20 years in the auto industry in Kenosha. Bob holds an undergraduate degree in Geography, with a minor in environmental studies, as well as an MBA and MSHR from Marquette University. Bob will be working as a part time consultant for the SBDC at UW-Parkside.
Leah Preston, Program Assistant - Graphic Designer
As a Program Assistant - Graphic Designer at the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Leah Preston works closely with clients to professionally help create their unique identity. She develops strong brand recognition that allows businesses to capture awareness through visual design. Leah is pursuing a double major in Graphic Design and Marketing and has an anticipated graduation in Spring 2017.
Haley Willis, Program Assistant
As a Program Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Haley Willis assists in the social media and marketing of the SBDC as well as undertaking full administrative duties. She is an involved member of the campus community through her participation on the Parkside cross country and track teams. She previously worked as the College of Business, Economics, and Computing Social Media and Outreach intern, where she successfully marketed events and promoted the College of Business through presentations to prospective students at area high schools and community colleges. Haley is pursuing a double major in Marketing and Business Management with a certificate in Sales and intends to graduate in the Spring of 2018.
Jaquelin Meremable, Program Assistant
Jacquelin (Jacky) Meremable is an International Student from Haiti. He has studied Small Business Management previously at NorthCentral Technical College in Wausau, Wisconsin. He is the founder of Act-For-The-Future, a nonprofit organization that teaches sewing skills to teenagers in Haiti so that they can earn money for their education. Jacky has also been the National Sales and Marketing Manager in Haiti for EarthSpark International which is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Currently, Jacky is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Accounting at UW-Parkside. This Fall will be his first semester at UW-Parkside; he is a transfer student from UW-Stevens Point. As a Program Assistant at the SBDC, he will be working with business owners to provide market research for start-ups and existing businesses, read and critique business plans for entrepreneurs, and assist in additional projects related to business development.
